Presented by the Social Transition Team in USAID’s Bureau for Europe and Eurasia

September 10, 2009

USAID’s Social Transition Team in the Europe and Eurasia Bureau hosted the event “Child Welfare System Reform: Discussion of Lessons Learned from USAID Programming in the E&E Region” on September 10, 2009 at The QED Group in Washington, DC. Cathy Cozzarelli of USAID’s Social Transition Team opened the event and this was followed Lucia Correll giving a presentation on the recently completed paper: “The Job That Remains: An Overview of USAID Child Welfare Reform Efforts in Europe and Eurasia”. Following Lucia’s presentation, remarks were made by Cathy Savino of USAID’s Displaced Children and Orphans Fund and Gary Newton, USG Special Advisor for Orphans and Vulnerable. There was then an active Q&A session. Over 30 people participated in this event, including eight people virtually through a webinar. Participating organizations include USAID, State Department, Mercy Corps Azerbaijan, Save the Children, World Vision and Department of Labor.
